Does anyone know what this saying means? I think it is rhyming slang...but cannot trace its origin

Bell, which begins "I laughed to see the Pudding Crawl, A new dance at the Hedgehog Ball"; but is "laugh to see a pudding crawl" really in common use? If it is, I'm surprised that there aren't more Web references to the saying.
