'Kosher', as in the question, means 'clean/acceptable' and 'tref' - from 'teraphah', meaning 'torn flesh' - means 'forbidden'. Both words are from Hebrew and refer to food, which for Jews must conform to religious law. (Nowadays, of course, we use 'kosher' in many situations, just to mean 'OK'.)

Muslims have similar food-rules and they use the Arabic words 'halal' and 'haram' in the same situation. Allbut seems to be looking for the specific Hebrew word rather than just any four-letter word for 'food'. There are several other words for food, apart from grub and tuck which fit the four-letter stipulation...eats, nosh, chow and probably others...but none of these has anything to do with 'kosher' or otherwise.
