ok ? or coke ?

nope something else
'Taxi' seems to be pretty universal, certainly in its sound if not invariably in its spelling.
i'd give up if I were you Magnum95 you don't appear to know any of the answers ;o)
Could it be "Amen" ?
The difficulty with this question is that there aren't thousands of languages. There might be more than a thousand but that's not the same thing. Technological words tend to be the same in all different languages, were you thinking of one of them?
of???
Dear Firefly, if you click on http://www.yourdictionary.com/languages.html you'll find that the Yourdictionary website reckons there are almost 7,000 languages in the world.
Is that a statement or a question? If it's a statement, the answer is "What". This riddle reminds me of a question which was on "15 to 1" a few years ago, "Which common English word is invariably pronounced wrongly by graduates of the Oxford University?"
-- answer removed --
I don't know about thousands of languages but many countries use the word "STOP" on their roadsigns.
Microsoft?

McDonalds?
Perhaps "Biro".
Macdonalds
A
I'm still sure Quizmonster's got the right answer here ("Taxi" is used in the Far East, the Middle East, The Near East, all European countries I can think of, Africa and the Americas) but it looks like Magnum95 isn't going to let us know the answer...
Question Author
it's amen
I'm perfectly happy to accept that 'amen' is an answer...after all, it is used wherever Christian or Jewish communities exist, whatever the local language...but what evidence do you have for the claim that it is the only answer?

(I'm not trying to find fault; I'd really like to know. And well done to Spiff for coming up with the 'right' one.) Cheers

The answer is "amen" i was doing riddles on www.theriddlecontest.com, that was one of the questions and "amen" was the answer
