Finishing my letter
16 Answers
I have written a letter of thanks to an in law that has given us some money to help us through a sticky patch. I originall signed it yours sincerely but my wife says it's too formal. It doesn't seem right putting 'love' or faithfully and I can't think another correct sounding end. Anyone help?

'You have no idea how your kindness and generosity has helped us.
With deepest gratitude, we remain
Affectionately yours
Flopsy and Mopsy'
As they are inlaws, it is appropriate to apply the term 'affectionate.' Had they been outside the family structure, then 'faithfully' or 'sincerely' would be appropriate.
I commend you in your recognition of the importance of writing. Sadly, many simply wouldn't...or possibly even worse....do so in the form of an email.

I don't see the problem with email.
My father in law lent my husband a subastantial amount of money for his business, and as the post was totally unreliable at the time (actually 5 years ago...no postal strike, but heck...) Mr Pippa sent several emails.
Father in law loved the mails expressing gratitude ~ and they have been printed off and kept.
