In addition to a bow tie, it can mean a false shirt-front or the folding seat that used to be at the back of sports-cars. In carriage-driving - ie the Duke of Edinburgh's favourite sport - it is the driver's seat, the seat for servants at the back of such a vehicle or the leather apron at the front of it. It can also refer to a small bird.

Usually refers to a garment that has a collar and what looks like the front of the shirt. It's worn under, say, a low-cut sweater, or a blazer. It gives the wearer the appearance of having a shirt on underneath.
