Raasclaat origin

How did the term raasclaat (supposedly referring to toilet paper) become an insult in Jamaica, as we'd all be lost without it and is not the sort of thing I'd expect to become a derogatory term, except maybe in an infant's school?

It was around well before there was toilet paper in the Caribbean, (not just Jamaica) people would use old rags for use after the toilet. The same types of cloths were used by women having periods, hence the other well known saying "bloodclaat"!

Yep, in 'proper' English it would be rs cloth.
