Usually means just that, a bit of deep fried chicken usually accompanied by chips in a wicker or plastic basket, served at classy establishments such as bongo halls. To put all your eggs in one basket however usually means don't count your chickens before they've hatched, funny how so many phrases are poultry based.
erm that would be bingo halls, not bongo ones...
where did my answer go??
I don't know about anyone else, but I REALLY want to get me some chicken in a basket in a bongo hall!
I can't get chicken in a basket since our local bongo hall shut down
As the song says, "Oh, we don't want to fight, but by jongo if we do ...."
No wonder Britain's bongoing mad.
Actually putting all your eggs in a basket is completely different from not counting your chickens before they hatch.
