A short comic poem. Don't know any examples though.
It's a four-line comic verse, in aabb rhyme, named after Edmund (or Edward? can't remember) Clerihew Bentley (I think). One example is: The people of Spain think Cervantes Equal to half-a-dozen Dantes; An opinion resented most bitterly By the people of Italy.

Clerihews go like this: A name, then three subsequent lines, with the rhyming sequence 1-with-2, 3-with-4. As for scansion, well, scansion schmansion! For example: Ginger Spice Was curvaceous - phwoooarrr!! Nice! Whereas Geri Halliwell Is so skinny, she doesn't look at all well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Lee Travis Says 'What I have is A tendency to talk hot air, And another to grow copious facial hair' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Piers Morgan Edits a dreadful organ; Motivated by cynicism and greed, And it's a bl&&dy awful read ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- More will follow......
