If I see a single magpie and then a few minutes later, separately another single magpie ... does this add up to joy, or is it a double dose of sorrow?
If joy, how long between sightings would be acceptable to count?

hope this helps
Magpies are viewed with superstition. They are sociable, live in family groups and are supposed to mate for life Therefore it is normal for magpies to be seen in groups.

In some parts of the country single magpies are supposed to foretell a death in the family. This is probably due to their alleged association with witches.

My gran told me to always greet a magpie with 'Good morning Mr Magpie. And how are you today?'. It seems to work because I've not died yet.
I do not know about you But the next time I see a Magpie I`m blowing his bloomin head off
Hear, Hear !!!
