can anyone remember the riddle (my grandparents used to tell me as a child) which starts.........One bright day in the middle of the night, I met a blind man with perfect sight......
We had another similar nosense verse:-
One dark night in the middle of the day
The Thames caught fire and the water ran away.
A blind man saw it,
A deaf man heard it,
A man with no legs ran to the fire station,
The fire-engine came with two dead horses,
Ran over a dead cat & half killed it
The bit about the fire engine having horses dates it rather
The American folk song "oh susannah" has internal illogic, but this isn't helping Sparky Paul
It rained all night the day I left
The weather was bone dry
The sun so hot I froze myself
Susannah don't you cry
