I know empathic in the case of emphatic victory means a considerable/clear victory. But why when empathic means the ability to understand someone else's situation etc.

A true empath (if there are any) One source states "...Empaths are highly sensitive. This is the term commonly used in describing one's abilities (sensitivity) to another's emotions and feelings. Empaths have a deep sense of knowing that accompanies empathy and are often compassionate, considerate, and understanding of others..." A person can have empathy and not be an empath, but all empaths have empathy.
