Help with cooking term needed

I am helping a Spanish friend with a translation., The phrase we are stuck on is 'ba�o maria' which is Spanish for when you put a container (mayeb a can) in boiling water to heat it.

How do we say that in English?

I think the term 'Bain Marie' (Maria's Bath ?) is the term used in English, although it is actually a French term....
In English we call it bain-marie, which is a French term!
