What is the meaning of "be left out of the will" in the following sentence?

The parents became anathema to the greedy children as soon as the children realized that they had been left out of the will

'Left out of the will' means that you are not included in the will- ie you will get nothing when the person dies.

They have decided to leave you nothing in their will.

A will is a document which makes a list of the things that you own, and to who you want to give them, after you die.
Will means testament, a legal document that says which person gets specific items when you die. If you don't got a will your wife gets all of it. If you don't got a wife your children gets all. And then close relatives. No relatives I don't know maybe a question. The strofe last will and testament is shortend to will. Testament meaning something you state. Comes from testify which comes from testicle and some sort of Roman empire custom were you swear an oath and touch your or the other guys testicels
