Dad' birthday tomorrow (73) has given me the task of finding the full words to this old timers song, has the words "I said a yard of lace to match this for the wife, the shop man said here you see, but if its lace you want straight on and up the stairs"

Impossible, ridiculous but I thought I'd ask. Stupid old git !!
