has anyone else noticed that this word is slowly disappearing from the english language? oh ! look at them over there ,they have their dog with them and just look what they're doing to it -is look at them over there,they have there dog with them and just look at what there doing to it

you mean people don't know which is the correct spelling? the word is definitely still being used!

i will tell you what is disappearing though .........full stops.
that's because......................... I have them all :o)
'their' refers to personal possessions. e.g. their dog, their house, their car etc.
'there' refers to a place, or a statement, e.g. over there, there is, they're (they are) doing

people who write menus etc and put an apostrophe before the 's' where it isn't needed.....

ie menu's
and potatoe's
and fish supper's et al....

really makes me wanna run in and scream at them ....lol

What is even more inexplicable is when some items on the menu (for example) have an apostrophe in the plural and others do not, seemingly at random.
I would love to know the criterion by which the writer decides whether an apostrophe is needed in a plural or not.
Yes Nescio....i'm glad someone else has mentioned it....

lol - now i'm trying to be especially careful with my typing, just so that i don't leave an apostrophe out....then i'd end up with egg's on my face LOL LOL
