Il fait un froid de canard = It's freezing cold.

A literal (but completely meaningless) translation is "It makes a cold of duck".

tnx, that was all i learn in freanch for 3 years

The little ducks can seem to put up with the cold and paddle about happily in extremely cold water, so when the duck feels the cold it must be really bad.

.

Literally it means the 'It's Cold of the Duck'.

Sorry that shoud be "It's cold of the duck" delete "the"
Try: "It makes a duck cold."
Or "cold enough to freeze a duck"
