Can anybody out there tell me the origin of the phrase "all my eye and Peggy Martin",meaning a load of nonsense and/or-you're pulling my leg,I think it could be of Irish creation.

i believe the orginal phrase to be; "all my eye and Betty Martin". Apparently it is the corruption of the Latin opening to a prayer to St Martin ,"Mihi,beate Martine" heard by medieval British soldiers on the continent but not understood, hence developing the meaning of gibberish.
