"twit" is the name for a pregnant goldfish.

When I was about 12, some of my friends at school told me that a "prat" (Pee Are Ay Tee) was a pregnant goldfish, and I believed them for months before I realised that fish don't get pregnant.  I also believed (until I was about 20) that "****" (Tee Wubbleyou Ay Tee) was simply an alternative spelling of "twit" with the same meaning as "twit".

I got smacked when I was a kid for calling my brother a tw@t in front of my mum on the way to school, I thought it meant the same as twit.

Going back to my schooldays over 40 years ago.We were told by our biology teacher that the fish we kept in class were Tw@ts until they released the fry.

Erm I think that you'll find that the group of fish that come under the general grouping of "livebearers" do indeed get pregnant.

Fish most certainly can get pregnant - sharks are an excellent example. Just becuase most don't, it doesn't follow that all don't.

i was having an argument with my sister a few years ago when i called her a **** she asked me what it means n i said it means the same as twit she told me it meant a pregnant goldfish and to look it up in the dictionary and not to use words i didnt know the meaning of and sure enough in the dictionary it said **** is a pregnant goldfish
