Expiry Date On Eu Flight Compensation?

I was awarded compensation by Wizzair after a serious delay. The compensation was to be used to book flights. I used some of the compensation for a flight but there was still a healthy balance. Now I am told the balance has been reduced to zero as there is a one year time limit on there use. I was awarded €400 cash or €480 in credits, which I took. Obviously I wish now that I'd taken the cash. This doesn't seem right.

Thanks Barry! I made two mistakes: 1. I was too greedy and should have taken the cash 2. I should have read the small print!

...always of course if the EU allows a time limit on compensation!?

It's legal. I would always take cash. Any company can go bust very quickly and then vouchers/credits are worthless

I certainly will in future Barry! As I say I was being greedy. The EU compensation scheme is very generous, maybe too generous!
