what is the difference between a xylophone and a glockenspiel.

thankyou, sorry if i sound a bit dumb, but couldnt work out why they were called different when they are basically the same.
Quite right, tonyted - the xylophone's keys are wooden and the glockenspiel's metal. Usually the xylophone is a bigger, orchestral instrument while the glock tends to be a more domestic table-top size, but bothe instruments do come in a wide range of sizes.
