could it be sore ,,,as in scab?
I also have -o-e I've been toying with gore - as in the old saying blood and gore - but not convinced
yore is extremely old - but doesn't fit with the injury bit

Dole does not make sense as an answer, as there is no instruction to form an anagram, or where to get the "e".
Old +E from extremely. Chambers says Dole:- Pain or grief [archaic and dialect].
Latin from dolere to feel pain. I'm not 100 per cent, but we will have to wait until they
