Listener 4138: The X-factor by IOA
87 Answers
I looked down the list of letters thinking: no clue lengths, no clue numbers, no idea which is across or even, 26 numbers to choose from. Aargh! Luckily, once it gets going, things speed up and to a nice aesthetic finish. A debut in the sense that I have not solved either of IOA'a previous two Listeners (last in 2004), but this one I enjoyed - probably because it had a conversion and PDM to look forward to. Thanks IOA

As usual a late finisher - why don't I get started earlier? I loved this one, but I am not sure that I found the most logical way into it. I will look forward to fuller explanations of the route to follow sometime - is there somewhere to find that out after the solution is published? My hearty congratulations to those who were entirely logical - I had uncertain use of spreadsheets. Fantastic denoument - how on earth was it built up? IOA - this was brilliant! I love the number ones at least as muchas the "normals" so the list of "pros" can have another 1 added.
