Explanation for 5down please. They hold many records - even for Dickens adaptations (5,9). V?D?O?A?S?T?E?. The answer would seem to be 'video cassettes' but I don't see the relevance of the wordplay.

I originally thought it was an anagram of 'even for Dickens' - same number of letters but, given I've got the intersecting clues right, 'video cassettes' is the only thing that fits. There also appears to be a mistake with the Zola/Malraux(or Mauriac)/Therese clue - the TLS compiler is getting sloppy !
