10a Understood how door is locked (5,2) Is the answer "Catch on" or "Latch on"? Very little difference to me, but no doubt only one is correct.

I would say catch on - that means understand
I'd go for latch
Question Author
Oh dear, that doesn't help! I'm slightly in favour of "catch"
see definition 42 b) here http://dictionary.ref...e.com/browse/catch+on

Catch on = understand
Latch on = to take hold of (IMO)
I would go for latch
see 1 and 5b on the link

http://dictionary.ref...e.com/browse/latch+on
Someone answered this yesterday I believe
Apparently the on-line version would only accpet catch on as the ansr
The clue must surely read understand, not understood.

I feel Latch is better as it is specifically a door lock.
Sorry for the typos in my earlier post

Apparently the on-line version would only accept 'catch on' as the answer.
Must be catch-on then!
