I'm having trouble with a few. If I get these two I'll be able to get another one myself (I hope!)

arrange to hang out with once(6)
pattern:
- - S - - -

Mean worker, perhaps, with last bit of lager - this won't get him drunk(4,4)
pattern:
- E - - / - E - R

I thought the last word might be beer. Thanks for any help.

Thank you kettledrum. Is it another phrase for light beer?

With the 'R' from the word 'NEAR' that means that the other pattern is:

- - S - R -

Could be assort - it would fit - but I have to know why it's that word.
Thanks for any help you give.
assort is correct - an archaic meaning of assort was 'to associate with'
