8d Wife joins railway head in sardonic style w?y?s? Wryish or wryest ?
Answers
I can see the RY for railway and w for wife but not the rest, and I can see wryish would be a sardonic style. I prefer wryish to wryest- but someoe earlier suggested wryest as the answer

This poster also says it only has 6 letters.
It's odd because WRYNESS would fit the answer perfectly ( W +RY + NESS)
w= wife
RW= railway
NESS = head (as in headland)

Factor30-I think we would all agree that the compiler may have erred and that the wordplay suggests that the answer was intended to be W RY NESS
(ie Wife+railway+head), were it not for the fact that the clue only allows 6 characters, not 7. However, the only possible legitimate word that will fit and bear some relation to the clue, is WRYEST (WryISH does not seem to appear in any dictionaries that I have looked at).
