What a nicely clued and enjoyable solve. This was not the fearsome shocker we are all expecting one of these days. Please, please heed our pleas this week and don't spoil it for other solvers and those who are involved in the Listener competition, by announcing your clever answers and reasoning on the AB thread.
Very nice, and different for once at the PDM stage. I have to admit I solved it backwards (resolved clashes in the grid leading to remaining misprints). But they all count, I suppose
Nice and easy does it - and I claim a late start! So no grumpiness from me either, which I suspect makes me a fair weather friend of the Listener: it's fine unless I miss the point. CM - I'm still thinking about one too, but I guess (hope) it doesn't matter too much except for personal integrity
Anyone else in Wapping tomorrow?
Finished this last night in a late but quickish burst. That's three quick grid fills in a row and despite last week's endgame causing trouble I can't help but echo emcee's comment that we're in for it soon, probably from a renowned setter of devilish brutes. I'm alone for the whole weekend next week so I'll be ready and available for punishment from whatever awaits us, but by Sunday evening I maybe eating my words as I stare at an empty grid!
Nice and easy grid fill - but (like coalminers) I feel like it's cheating a bit, in that it's not actually necessary to solve all the clues - just one still irritating me ...
.....and it's not necessary to actually use the correct letters message or understand the subtlety of the appropriate clues to see how clashes are resolved. Perhaps Calmac has sold himself a little short in this respect.
I think I have done this (always a suspicious phrase). Like others, I haven't got every t dotted and i crossed - in particular, the last bit of the 'information' is incomplete. I will work on it a bit more and see if I can neaten it off better.
Almost finished - still got to resolve some of the misprints (two of them that I have found in particular; the other three seem to resolve to make a word that fits well) - but have only four clues left to enter.
Not entirely sure I have got all the misprints right, though - can't make head or tail of the first part of the message. 1a, 13a perhaps are where I have slipped up. Oh well.
