I am all done with the Playfair grid and the title, but I still haven't satisfied myself about 1D and 15A... Any help?

Thanks!

Nope haven't a clue!

I was trying not to trouble people who hadn't done it, because of the special instructions...

1D - Gentleman rising in ministry making one eager for move (6) M?R??H
12A - Saint - one such offering a lamb (5) ?PAU?

Both contain a single letter misprint in either the definition or the answer...
1 Morish?
Question Author
I think it is MORISH as well. I think I have mixed up by M and WN clues 0 I was thinking it had to be a one word definition... D'oh!
S for Saint
Paul = one such example
Misprint - Lamb should be LIMB
Spaul can mean limb
I agree with your answers, I have manchu for one of the PL clues and hope that this is correct. These have been solved now for 48hrs but I can not make progress with the grid. It is process for solution that I am looking for. Can you confirm that WN 21,22 is a typo for RL 21,22? Maybe there are other errors that I have missed or is it something very clever. I have the excellent Chambers Chambers Crossword Manual by Don Manley in the section on Playfair grids he says the compiler should give you I straight line -- the nearest I can get if UTSE or SEUT in a row or column. How do you proceed? Surely the whole thing is not just trial and error; I can't seem to find any way of proceeding

Many thanks - I missed that interpretation of spaul, although it is the word that I thought had to be a misprint.

OlimV - you will see the other letter that goes with the UTSE row if you look at the checked letter of 13A and 9D... As you get the PL answers then you should be able to work out the columns and start to fill in the PL grid... The three code words then fall out as you work out the order of letters in each row.
RustyBee, Many thanks for the help and Happy New Year
