ROUND DOWN ?

Thanks. I can understand COTTBUS. But can anyone explain ROUND DOWN?
Im thinking, set of ties as in games ie ROUND robbin, lower = down might be wrtong though
to round down = to lower for convenience; to neck a drink = to down it. A round in e.g. the FA Cup is a set of ties.
