14d and 26a seem to clash as reported earlier. 'Essayist coolly concealing names' looks very much like CONNOLLY and 'Mary McCarthy associated them with novel' looks like IDEAS since she wrote 'Ideas and the Novel'. That puts an L in the middle of 26a if CONNOLLY is correct. Anyone worked out the riddle?
Also, why is 24d TITHE for 'Levy though not on poet amy'?

Thanks, I'd seen that, but there doesn't seem to be a conclusion.
Looking on the Times site this morning some people have got all correct.

There was a poet Amy Levy..

I have now submitted a solution with Isles, and it seems to be correct.
Must be an error though!

Re 24d the poet Amy Lowell also wrote mentioning tithes.

Thanks, I've just submitted and all is correct, don't see it though.
I'm sure it was meant to be Ideas, and is an error/misprint.
