Could you help with this please:
One taking all the blame fell, say into river, at awful bias against women? Touch wood (9; 5,4)

I have scapegoat for the first answer and ?????/???n for the second.
Thought it was 'something luck' but obviously not.

I can see bias in that answer and omen makes sense. Where does the remaining t come from and what has falling into a river got to do with it?
I can explain most of "scapegoat":fell=scap (geographical), eg=say (for example) + at (in clue) --- the O as river escapes me, too, but it must be correct!
