Well it's done but not one of my favourites (although the theme is!) - I thought the seven were somewhat less than thematic.

On the contrary, and in defence of Nutmeg, they are perfectly thematic. Maybe you should look again.

I take your point about the process in which they arise from the wordplay but does it go further than that?
If you have the "two of a kind" of the title, then the 7 are also exactly "of that kind", prior to "thematic treatment".

A straightforward puzzle but very enjoyable, especially after the brainbusting Listener this week.
Agreed, dr b, and thanks for putting it more neatly than I could!
I found this quite satisfying - a good mixture of clues cleverly worded. Most needed unravelling before the penny dropped. Much to my shame I hadn't met one of the seven without definition before.
Enjoyable and very accessible once the theme became apparent.

I bow to your superior puzzling! Though it seems that I completed the puzzle correctly without that extra insight. Perhaps a bit of highlighting was required?
Hello everyone,
Most enjoyable, straightforward clues, and an interesting theme! The seven obviously weren't behaving "sensibly"!
An enjoyable puzzle with a theme sometimes touched on by contributors to the weekly thread!

As with X word fan I was wondering if the expression needed to be highlighted before submitting?
This one's definately up the N & C street isn't it? Am plodding along quite nicely amid the chaos.
It is a puzzle that we are not asked to highlight the TWO OF A KIND. I often wonder if it is better to be safe than sorry and highlight even when it is not actually specified in the rubric.
As I type this I am suffering the aftermath of a mild form of the theme.
Novalis, i hope you are somewhat more composed now! I'm enjoying a glass or two of a HARDYS 2011 BIN 53 SHIRAZ. Really oaky and really worth an N&C mention! Devadolly, I hope you are emerging from your chaos, and without the mild aftermath Novalis was undergoing! Happy completion!
Thank you DocHH, tragically not that sort of chaos! Am almost finished but having trouble pin-pointing the two to be high-lighted (or not).
Hi DD

Think diagonally.

Re The Bin 53 - is it on offer somewhere - it was £9.49 in Sainsburys this weekend but often they have it half-price?
x_word_fan, when I bought the Bin 53 it was on offer, 3 bottles for £12.00, but that was some time ago. Last week I bought some 789 Mondelli Pinot Grigio, that was £9.99 a bottle, but 3 bottles for £12.00. Also bought 3 bottles of Marques de Montino Rioja, £6.99 a bottle, but 3 bottles for £12.00. So the total bill should have been £50.94, but given the offer, plus a further 5% discount for buying 6 bottles, the bill came to £23.80, or £3.80 a bottle! As Sainsbury's "house wine" is at least £3.99 a bottle it's a no-brainer to go for the offers, while they are still able to make those offers!
Thank you K, it jumped out at me finally! Why are all the wine offers red? Love it, but it doesn't love me!
Devadolly,
Went to Sainsbury's today, spotted a Mondelli Pinot Grigio, definitely white, normal price £9.99 a bottle, but on offer at 3 bottles for £12.00, buy 6 bottles and get a further 5% discount. I think there was a similar offer on Rose, but that's not to my taste. Lots of other offers involving 2 bottles for £10.00 or £12.00. Should be something there to tempt you!
Pleased, you spotted the "two of a kind", not long now till EV 1015.
Hi Devadolly!

Our local ASDA frequently has offers on whites as well as reds.
