I can think of three possible answers but can't determine which is correct, help folks!

That was my problem, I tended to think blinking was correct, as short-sighted being blinkered.

i was thinking in terms of a blink of an eye being quick, a short period of time

Agreed bibble, but a glance is also quick so i thought mike's idea might explain why it would be blinking over glancing
