Slightly puzzled by these,my last two.
28 D. Final issue in holiday stated (4) ?ate
Fate sounds like fete/holiday, but I don't see the rest.
11 A. Current spreads two hundred, producing tension (5) ?onic
Conic, ionic?

Thanks, both of you.
I can now see 'fate' properly.
I think I prefer 'tonic' (the ton+c) as it relates to tension, I was thinking of 'conic' only because it had 'c'/hundred in it twice.

Current (Electric engineering) = I, TON = C = 1000 so TON-I-C. C gives 'producing tension' as a meaning of tonic.
