Nearly finished but don't understand the wordplay for 3 of them:-

1d - One river or another going South in direction of another going North (7) - I have POTOMAC

8d - Directions for writing as found in European city (6) - I have ATHENS

19d - Like small payment, the kind of change woman in union need not accept (7) - I have NOMINAL.

8d How do you write the word 'AS'? A then S
PO (river going south ie. downwards) + TO + CAM backwards i.e. river going North.
ATHENS - see my question posted earlier.
NOMINAL - double meaning, i.e. women need not accept change of surname on marriage.

8d.To write as = A then s
