Have completed but dont get the wordplay for 14Ac (4) Play at Headingly remained with one Knight replacing another. I have LAI? and have settled for LAIN ie 1 (k)night - can anyone enlighten me please

Try LAIK. 1 definition is To play (in the sense opposed to work)
Laik is Yorkshire dialect for play (i.e. not working), so that might be where the Headingley connection comes from:

Laik (Yorkshire dialect for play) replace k with n
Bookbinder. Laik means to play as in I'm laiking cricket today.
