16a New Style (Calendar)
New Style
16a) new style - refers to the change of calendar in 1752

27d) o v err ode
8 overrode? ode around erro(r)
8 override
I had override,
Ode+ v + err, but can't justify the I.
Overrode
Thanks, bookbinder. Not I but O for old.
Sorry, baldric - giving your kudos to bookbinder.
old = O, poem = ODE, very = V, small mistake = ERR -> O v err ODE
(perhaps that ought to be: very small = V, mistake = ERR)
Question Author
Many thanks to you all, can now have a relaxing afternoon.
The clue says "...is set aside", so it seems to me that the answer should match the tense of the clue, and I think that the answer should really be "overridden". As in: ...very small mistake is set aside..." should be "...very small mistake is overridden." To justify the answer "overrode", the clue should read "...very small mistake has been set aside", and for "override" the clue should read "...very small mistake that I set aside." OK, so I'm pedantic, but I still think that the clue is wrong.
