winding?
Binding
binding
winding, whineding? complaining?

Why binding?
Maybe the clue said COMPLYING
That would make sense, factor
I suppose it could have been 'complaining'- I had to look through several dictionaries before I found this definition .
" nuisance, uphill (S. African), predicament, annoyance, quandary, pain in the neck (informal), pain in the arse (taboo informal), pain in the backside, pain in the butt (informal)"
A Factor says
^ sorry, I should have said that was a meaning of BIND
Maybe kimthedog will let us know.
Well, I've learned something today. I did not know that 'bind' meant complain. Thanks, factor.
I think it means 'complaint' rather than complain, so I'm still not convinced.
So it's a noun rather than a verb?
Actually, thinking about it a bit more carefully, I do use the expression,'Oh it's such a bind having to do so and so.'
So bind it is.
World English Dictionary- Bind , slang, to complain
Thank you, danny.
