Thought we might have have a Battle of Hastings theme as puzzle number is 1066. I suppose very loosely at least a French proverb was included.
Started this very late today as I've been away and I can't quite believe there's not a thread already.
Good straightforward puzzle with only one gripe in that I think 5d should be marked as two words. Thanks Eclogue.

Twit-Who, there may well be a delay before the Search function picks up recently started threads. If I am looking for a thread for EV on a sunday, I just keep scrolling down from the time I start looking to a thread started on a saturday, then after that use my initial search as the time to scroll to, if that makes sense!
