What a cracker! Loved some of the clues - in particular 22d. A real challenge and thoroughly enjoyable, although I had just a twinge of withdrawal for a touch of highlighting. Many thanks Nutmeg.

Hello Twit-Who,
How half the across items were entered became apparent quite quickly after solving 6d, with a few down clues solved ODQ revealed how the other half were entered. It was then a question of plodding, rather than flying to a populated grid.
Could someone possibly help with the crossword as struggling with the 'birds'?
In particular, 43a..would be a great help!

Thank you

Hello All! Totally tied up with BIG living room re-furb.....joiner/me french polishing/decorator/14 boxes of fine books to go hither and then return thither/etc. etc! Am not getting on too well considering I got the lengthy anagram of said person + quote very quickly ( I think brain has inhaled fumes of polish!). Wonder if drb was anywhere near that horrendous storn in US at the w/e, not quite sure how I would cope with such a force of nature.
On another note, Novalis, how is your friend? Please let us have an up-date and pass on continued good wishes for quick recovery.
dd, Oklahoma City is a good 500 miles from St. Louis so no direct impact although the winds still rattled the windows by the time they finally reached us. Some trees uprooted well to the west of us.

Found this enjoyable except for the above noted 43a which must have taken a day to figure out.
drb, I always forget your exact location, just the Mid-West! Good to know it didn't get to you!
