Persuaded out of a Listener sabbatical by the early posting on the website, I worked my way through this (thankfully) relatively straightforward issue at a steady pace and with just enough enthusiasm.
I haven't got all the misprints, but more than enough to get the instruction, and I appreciated the niceness of the instructions on what to identify. Good stuff all round and my regards to all.
Is there such a thing as a Friday morning club?

I thought these were meant to come out at 4pm?!

Hasn't turned up early before as far as I a=m aware
I noticed a posting on the Crossword Centre's board that the puzzle was up early. Straightforward but entertaining.
A really delightful puzzle. And some wonderful clues (1d is still making me chuckle).
Failed to notice that it was available early. Maybe a good thing as I can delay lawn mowing until tomorrow. Thank you halicea ( or should I say RR ?).
Chalicea's official deubt, I believe. Thanks to her then for her usual offering of a grid filled with thematic goodies and accessible but fun clues. Couple of favourites -- 39d for its brevity, and 12d is pretty good too.
For such a speedy completion, this was a good challenge. Very enjoyable.
Many thanks to Chalicea! This kind of puzzle is a real pleasure. Numbers in the grid, good, clean fun (without unnecessary contortions), and consistent clarity of clue and theme right through to the final denouement. I, for one, would welcome regular early Friday postings - it'd free up the weekend and reduce potential domestic friction...
18a was my favourite. This was a nice thematic Listener, if on the easy end of the difficulty spectrum. It took me a while to find what not to highlight though.
Really enjoyed that one! I loved 12d and 30a was good for insomniac radio 4 listeners (like myself).
.... and if you want more, Establishment by Chalicea, the June puzzle, is available at the Crossword Centre (http://www.crossword.org.uk/
What a fabulous puzzle, lots of thematic elements all working together perfectly. Very enjoyable all round. Congratulations Chalcea on another milestone!
After last week's easy puzzle I was expecting something really tough, but completed this quickly. I spotted the message from the misprints with only 5 misprints identified, which helped quite a lot (I still haven't identified the clue that has the misprint for the 3rd letter).
The other character's pretty obscure so unlikely to be highlighted even without the message, but it all adds to the completeness of the puzzle.
Just spotted the third misprint, carelessly overlooked.
Filled grid and wondering what to do about the instructions but have posted with a request. I am away working in some fairly remote parts of Malaysia for six weeks over the summer. Whilst I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to get hold of the Listener as my Crossword Club membership is still intact, I'm not sure how easy it will to be post a solution back to Mr Green in St.Albans, England. If I get stuck is there any kind soul who would be willing for me to email them a written solution which they could transcribe onto a solution grid and post on for me. Of course if you think my solution is better than yours you could always purloin some answers - and if you are really mean you could always introduce a few printer's devils into mine. Still rather sadly in pursuit of an all-correct year....
If so please email me at [email protected]
There would of course be a choice bottle or two by way of thanks!
"After last week's easy puzzle..." ah, the wondrous variety of people's opinions on these things! I found last week's about the second or third toughest of the year.
Yes, I gave up on last week's puzzle, but life has been full of a lot of Life recently. However, with more time this weekend I have enjoyed solving this one. Not hard but entertaining. A few 'i's to cross and 't's to dot, but pretty well done.
Saving it as my Sunday afternoon treat.
We can be confident of a setter's blog, in the usual place, but presumably one less solver's.
How does it affect the statistics, though?
Only been doing Listener a short while, preferring Indy / EV but this was a very nice one. Easy but well put together - probably this setter's best as her (?) others can be quite bland with unoriginal devices. Rather 3 or 4 of this quality per year than an excess of those ones. Less is more Chalicea. Congratulations and do keep up the good work.
I haven't posted for a while, due to extreme business. I managed last week's fairly well and enjoyed this one, getting the theme quite easily, but nearly missed out on one of the clashing items due to a mix-up in my mind over one of the clues. All sorted now and in the post. I didn't get 4241 done, apart from grid, but have just looked at solution. Neither did I quite fathom out the numerical one, though I think I was nearly there.
