I suggested SAFE SEAT earlier but couldn't parse it. If you can find the thread someone may have explained it.
I can see that a new candidate prefers this = safe seat
Include a female suggests the A F
That leaves SESEAT
The group is SET
Does the SEA come from the theme - is it the Guardian?

If it's the guardian there was missing word SEA from many clues so my explanation of safe seat would work if the clue was ...'SEA group...'

Yes that would make sense. Sea is a word that is contained in other answers . Which is not in the clues'wordplay. Thanks
