I'm a relative newbe to answerbank (4 months) . I would first of all like to say what a great site and full of great characters , mamaylyne the matriarch & Baldric the top dog (pun intended) to name but a few. However what does anger me is when I see people asking questions and never saying thank you (good manners cost nothing). Plenty of fine people give good answers whose only reward will be a kind thank you. There are about 4/5 people I could name & shame indeed 1 person has asked 300 questions & never thanked once.
I'm I just old fashioned?
I agree although I've got used to it. It's more frustrating when I ask for clarification and they don't respond. In some cases though I think people just don't know they can reply on their own threads. In some other cases maybe they just forget. Or maybe they don't see a need - maybe they feel a 'thank you' clutters up the site
I concur with dannyk, although we have been told not to expect a thank-you,it is always appreciated specially if you have gone to some trouble to answer..
bella ~ this is a sore point for many of our AB regulars.
I can understand as sometimes the person who is answering the question has spent much time and effort to obtain the correct information or answer and there is a cyber silence from the person who asked the question.
As you say it is a good site. Bit like going to the pub and meeting up with a huge group of friends ~ every so often there is a fight or a person winding all the rest up, but usually there is humour and harmony.
I think on occasions it irks me, especially a real stinker of a clue....search hard, find solution, add the answer feeling a little smug (gosh what a confession) and hear nothing back.
However in the main am usually just looking for the next question to answer.
When you answer a question correctly and someone else answers it several minutes after and then they get thanked for the answer as if nobody can see your post.
Oh, my poor ego has been bruised with that one a few times!
lol Factor, maybe they've found a search engine :-)
I seldom venture in crosswords and on one occasion everyone else who supplied the correct answer got thanked (not me though I did post a correct answer too)
ho-hum.
