Hi,
I think the answer to 8 down is WARHORSE (an anagram of "show rare") but my dictionary won't tell me if that's a "song often performed". Am I right or barking up the wrong tree?

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Is that the full clue "song often performed"? (don't forget that most of us don't have the DT!
warhorse is the name of a variety show/musical
I've never heard the expression used in that context, balders.
we have now Boxtops!

Be honest, neither had I,
just thought it was worth a look!
Warhorse = a musical or drama that has been performed so often it has become widely familiar (Free on line dictionary)

Thanks everyone, WARHORSE it is! Baldric, I'll make sure I use the Chambers dictionary from now on as my Oxford dictionary was useless.
