Hardly a Magical Mystery Tour ... I was Flying through this one ... Didn't take long for the Penny (Lane) to drop... now All I've Got to Do is say "Please, Mr. Postman, send this to the UK" and It Won't be Long until I'm in the Money. Until then, Don't Bother Me. Hello, Goodbye.
Yes, enjoyed this - made a nice change after last week's offering, which I started very late in the week and still haven't finished.
My only query is 11d, (for which I have an answer of sorts), and which is, I believe, thematic, but still can't make full sense of it, and can't find the words, once 'themised', in Chambers
"Hey" everybody,
Having twigged the theme quite early, the whole the grid population became quite pedestrian.
Am late on parade as have been away at a Conference. Our local charity is but one of 500 similar local charities, across the UK, which are banded together in a Federation. It was good to network with like-minded organisations with similar problems but different approaches. End result, we all go away with new ideas, and with the hope we can improve the services we offer to our "audience".
Hi Christiana!
Have just looked in my BRB ( 1998 version ). 11 down is there. It is given as an alternative for the normal version.
Have finished this but work - volumes thereof - has got in the way of crossword solving for the last couple of weeks. With luck I shall be able to look again at last week's EV tomorrow.
Thank Heavens a compiler gets stuck sometimes!!!! Sorry Jim! Think the thing is you are too young for this theme. Am still stumped on a couple, probably because I was never a fan, always preferred the bad boys from the South.
Well "Stone" me devadolly! I saw those bad boys in Hyde Park at the free concert in the mid to late 60s! I cannot remember the name of the supporting group it may have been, Family. I did also see the Beatles at the Finsbury Park Astoria, when they were supported by the Moody Blues! That really ages me I guess! I also saw Free, at a gratis concert at our Alma mater! Even more ammunitiom to add to how decrepit I am!
Actually I have in the past been a terrific fan of The Beatles and have listened to much of their work. Guess the problem was, perhaps, that I knew too many songs and so couldn't think of the right one, coupled with an unreasonable expectation that the grid would be filed with real words.
