I found the clues quite tough to start but picked up speed as I got into the style - a cracking little EV and thanks to Jaques. Clever contruction.

I usually find clues with extra letters awkward, but populated the southern half of the grid fairly quickly, so with the Inventors name revealed, twigged quite early on what was to be highlighted, which helped with the northern half of the grid. I'm not sure I agree with you that the last word of 6d should be singular, my BRB doesn't mention either the singular or plural word, so perhaps it is redundant, and wings should be singular.

Great news in that we have an EV compiler now doing the Xwords for the FG.......Hooray, a proper Xword again! Many thanks to Jim 360 for suggesting a path to take.
