Thanks as ever, Daniel. Grid looks OK, but I need to find some deeper level of commonality in the unclued lights if I am to resolve an ambiguity at 32d.
Cheers Daniel! I noticed you were commenting on Sunday's Azed. I don't really like those Playfair puzzles but thankfully they don't turn up very often!
Also farewell to Araucaria this week. A gentleman and a master of his trade. RIP.

Morning Barry.

Yes I finished the Azed. I think it helped that a lot of the clues weren't as tough as they usually are.

Yes sad day to see the Master pass away. I once got a custom puzzle as a gift. It was great fun. I love both opera and heavy metal. I never thought I'd get to see Megadeth clued by Araucaria!
Thanks as always Daniel.

Congratulations to our own Shaneystar on her success with

Can anyone give me a HINT on 15a? I'm certain of my crossers, but the only word to fit from the machine I use doesn't seem relevant at all. As for 32d I see 2 possibilities, both vaguely relevant to the theme, but can't see which is meant either.
You can eat the first part of 15a.
You can eat the first part of my 15a (6 letters if I have the correct answer) but now I have II? for 16d Nelson = 40 x 3 - how does that fit??
111 is 'Nelson' in cricketing terms
Thank you kayakamina
... and "I have II" could be another cryptic indication!
Many thanx!
Still undecided on 32d........................
Thanks daniel. A few tricky clues today.
Congrats to maurice on becoming a septuagenarian today! Many happy returns of the day!
Thanks as always to Daniel.

Doc's puzzles are not usually too hard, but I have all kinds of problems today. I have a possible answer for 6D, but can make no sense of the wordplay. There seems to be only one possible word for 21D, but I can't see how it relates to 15A (I don't have any other unclued lights). The title is also mystifying.
6d PIE (spoil) TAS(k) (piece of work)

I too am puzzled by the title, at least the relevance of the first four letters of it.

I have ideas for other unclued lights but can't relate them to each other in any meaningful way. Am I being naive? HINT please.
"think ways of stopping something"
Thanks as ever Daniel.
Thanks K ..that was a nice surprise this morning .
Happy Birthday maurice .Enjoy your day .
I can't relate any of the answers to the unclued lights to one another either !
Thanks for the hint Roslyn. I'll have another think. Don't see how that reelstes to the title, though.
........... and remember all but 2 of them are "2 word answers"
Same here - roslyn your idea works for a couple but not 27 for example where I can only see muffin top. They are all slang but there are thousands of those in Chambers
