I am not a Roman Catholic but I am well aware of The Tablet as a weekly newspaper, & would expect any educated person capable of doing of a crossword of this standard to be aware of it too, along with the Church Times, Watchtower etc. I'm not sure what else you needed, methyl? I typed Tablet into Google, & the first mention was a Jewish newspaper, & the second was...

There's no need for that methyl .
You're just nitpicking and offering no help with the crossword at all.
Or Methyl, you could refrain from answering perhaps?

Thank you Methyl for your kind comments.

As Bibblebub said I have to give you chapter and verse. So kindly please ignore any requests for help as I really do not need to see your raving and much prefer the comments of Bibblebub and Shaneystar who actually are helpful which I thought was the purpose of this site.

it seems to be beyond your solving ability but that didn't stop you posting
Obviously beyond your solving ability too as all you have done is gripe and not offer any answers !

I see no offensiveness, merely a mildly hectoring jocularity.

I think you are in a minority of one here methyl.

Thank you Shaneystar and Bibblebub for your help. Methyl clearly has his way of doing things and so be it.

I welcome all help given but if friction occurs I would sooner not ask (and give help. For Methyl's information I frequently complete "The Tablet" crossword and to the best of my knowledge it is the only magazine which has weekly crosswords with that name.
Pay no attention dave . Post your questions if you're stumped .Someone will always try and help .

I'm not sure what else you needed, methyl? I typed Tablet into Google, & the first mention was a Jewish newspaper, & the second was 'British catholic weekly newspaper'. Surely that is enough to give you the correct context.

I forgot to say ....
14a The wordplay clearly leads to Horham. H (horse/heroin) + or + ham? But like Bibblebub I can find no connection with Cana. Perhaps an unusual transliteration of (Mount) Hermon - Jabal Haramun
Question Author
Thank you Kettledrum for your very helpful suggestion.
Question Author
For those that have helped with this including Bibblebub and Shaneystar I have found the answer which is Hormah
Well done, dave
Good man.

Keep taking the tablets.......
Oh very well done, Dave! Thank you for letting us know, as that was annoying me. I wonder why I couldn't see it on the map.
