Looks good. currently charged= alive + striking=kicking

maybe it does all fit together- could you have misread an l as an I on your grid

Hi Factor. I'm a bit confused.Where does the OP mention anything about an i not fitting?

If Alive and kicking is correct it gives me I?E for the 26 down clue which I am told is LYE for Basic material for a water softener, making ICE. So not sure what I have done wrong

Maybe ICE is correct then, although i don't see how it fits with the clue. Is that definitely the exact clue- I'm wondering if there is a word starting with E after basIC., although that still wouldn't explain water softener

It was dannyk who suggested LYE in an earlier thread. I'm not sure that fits the clue either. Is the E definitely right (ion?- although I think it's deonised)
