Of course success in this kind of puzzle helps if you don't make basic errors of logic (as I did). Clue 22d spelled out what we had to count, but I stupidly only gave one cricket team two legs each (yes - all twelve men, thanks to Oyler's prompt). It took a big nudge to prompt me that you wouldn't get far on a cricket pitch with 24 one-legged players. This thread is growing longer and longer. It is already far longer than the current Listener one (and that puzzle was compiled by the two editors!) so maybe devadolly and I are on safe ground suggesting that there should perhaps be a numerical EV alongside - repeat ALONGSIDE - the normal one - it might be a good sales move!
MN:RGBY 21:36 Sun : No need to spend £2 on the rag, if you are near a Waitrose. Just spend three quid and get it for free. Mine goes in the recycling box unread. Unless I happen to pass one of the few public libraries open on a sunday, then it's a quick photocopy or a scan - if that annoys Mr. Manley then so much the better!
